STEM Coordinator

$36 an Hour to Start
Hours of Operation: Between Monday and Friday various times
Mission: The Henrico Police Athletic League (Henrico PAL) is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization whose mission is to provide a high quality and safe environment for at risk youth in grades K-12 through educational, athletic and social programs, while creating a positive relationship between police officers and youth.
Qualifications: 4-year college degree in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics, 5 years + experience working with school aged children as a director, manager and/or administrator, valid Virginia Driver’s License and CPR certification required. Applicants must be able to pass criminal background and drug test.
Duties and Responsibilities: Working under the supervision of the Executive Director, the part-time STEM Coordinator will engage youth in STEM related subject matter during After School and/or Summer Camp Activities. The position will have the responsibility of facilitating the STEM Program/Robotics Program and supervising STEM and Robotic Instructors. The STEM staff generally work 1-2 afternoons weekly or biweekly during the school year at our After-School Program sites (Baker, Dumbarton, Harvie, and Pinchbeck Elementary Schools) from approximately 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm, days to be determined.
Create STEM activities for grades K-8 Organization and ordering supplies Facilitate STEM activities for HPAL after school program (4 sites) Manage large student groups Create and facilitate summer STEM activities/camp Comfortable with Microsoft 365 (especially calendar) Manage Instructors when hired Manage iPad and apps Experience with coding (scratch) and robotics (Sphero, Finch) Manage electronics for STEM activities Bending and lifting Previous experience working with K-8 students. An interest in math, science, technology, or STEM Empathy and great interpersonal skills Ability to communicate with K-8 students Good classroom management skills Must pass a criminal background check. This is a part time position and qualifies for no benefits
